How to Use Wax Strips

Waxing your body, face, bikini and under-arm areas at home may seem intimidating, but it’s actually quite easy and there are more simple ways to make it less painful and comfortable. At-home waxing kits come up with wax strips already covered in the large amount of wax, so you don’t have to worry about heating any wax and applying the right amount to your skin. Plus, waxing at home is budget-friendly than having it professionally done at a salon or spa and you will get the same output.

How to Apply Wax Strips

  1. Warm the strip by rubbing it between your hands for seconds.
  2. Separate the layers, exposing the wax.
  3. Apply the strip to the are to be waxed.
  4. Hold the skin taut at the bottom of strip and rip the strip against the direction of hair growth.
  5. Remove excess wax and done!

How to Use Wax Strips

As long as you follow these steps, you should be able to safely remove your hair and enjoy the results for weeks.

1. Cut hair first if necessary

Although your body, face, bikini or under-arm hair needs to be at least a quarter height to be waxed, hair that is too long can make waxing complicated and painful.

The AAD - American Academy of Dermatology recommends trimming hair to three-quarters of an inch. Trim hair using a clean equipment like electronic trimmer or clean and safety scissors.

2. Exfoliate

Before waxing, gently exfoliate with a mild scrub to remove dead skin cells that surround the hair follicles.

Exfoliating helps loosen existing ingrown hairs and improves your waxing results. Just make sure to be gentle — if you scrub too hard you could irritate your skin, which isn’t ideal for waxing.

3. Cleanse

Before starting your waxing session cleanse your skin with clean water and clean with soap to remove any germs, sweat, oil, makeup, dirt, or other residue.
